On April 5, 2014
Rasheedah Phillips, creative director of The AfroFuturist Affair,
hosted an extrememly unique exhibition in honor of her first literary work of science-fiction, The Reccurrence Plot.
Based in all things time travel, she sent out an artist call for time machines and that's where I come in.
My original scope was to construct a pyramid and blacken the faces
of anyone and everyone who wanted to step into the light.
That didn't happen.
The ceilings of the space werent high enough.
Because "The Time Travel Convention" was on the heels of
"From Niggas To Gods"
I decided early that it was best to simplify.
I boxed myself into a corner.
Literally...of lights, barbed wire, and keywords of my generation.
Transforming from B-FLY to Black Shesus during the Time Travel Convention,
we journeyed
through eons of Blackness together.
I painted the face of Warren C Longmire.
I got bumped out of my installation
from body overflow
and was able to watch the people scavenge
through the wreckage of my installation.
The Pyramid of Shesus, a vessel of transformation.
Ive carried all these shiny things with me on this journey.
They've all broken.
They're all precious.
In all of their millions of pieces.
Love, B
